A day trip on the Danube with a visit to the Belo Brdo archaeological site and Vinča vineyards.
Embark on an exciting day trip on the Danube with us as we journey back to prehistoric times! Our adventure begins from the Sava River, near its confluence with the Danube, with a refreshing welcome drink – a brandy from this majestic river, as Napoleon once called it.
Throughout the journey, you’ll discover hidden gems of Belgrade and numerous cultural and historical landmarks.
Our first stop on our journey is Veliko Ratno Ostrvo, an untouched natural oasis in the middle of the city, with stunning views of Kalemegdan, the Cathedral Church, and the dynamic panorama of Zemun. Here, 163 bird species, including the largest European eagle, the white-tailed eagle, call home. Lido Beach with its white sand and shallow water is the perfect spot to relax.
Continuing our voyage, we reach Ada Huja, a peninsula rich in history and sulfur springs used by ancient Romans. Today, Ada Huja is a green oasis with wild beaches, a karting track, volleyball and tennis courts, and numerous restaurants along the promenade.
We proceed past Višnjičko brdo to Forkontumačka Ada, known as Belgrade’s Ada Bojana. This beautiful sandy beach stretches 400 meters upstream during the summer months, offering an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This island is also home to unique century-old lighthouses – the world’s only twins at the confluence of two rivers.
Our journey ends at the confluence of the Bolečica River into the Danube, near the archaeological site of Vinča – Belo Brdo. This place preserves the remains of the largest prehistoric settlement in Serbia and one of the most important Neolithic sites in Europe. We’ll uncover fascinating details about the Vinča culture, its artistic achievements, and the beginnings of metallurgy.
Above the Danube stretch the Vinča vineyards covering almost a hundred hectares of the Agricultural Faculty’s Tourist-Exhibition Property in Zemun. This natural masterpiece includes a Danube model, a botanical garden, a turtle oasis, an aquarium with Danube fish, and the attractive Settlement of Prehistoric Fishermen depicting life along the Danube through the centuries.
Vineyards and orchards occupy over 90% of this property, with over 360 varieties of grapevine and the production of the famous Gardoš brandy, which the French compare to Armagnac. With wine tasting and relaxation in the tasting room, experience a true paradise for nature lovers and “drink of the gods”.
Join us on this unique journey through time and space, and discover all the charms of prehistory on a unique journey down the Danube!
